Welcome to Janelle Silver Hague's Website
I'm Janelle and you most likely met me on Instagram. I never imagined I would connect with so many people on Instagram. It wasn't my goal, but it's truly been such a blessing. In 2015, I started the @janellesilverhague account and my intention was to share about essential oils - a newfound passion of mine at the time. Today, not only do I share this passion for essential oils, I also teach classes on health and wellness, support local small businesses, advocate for mental health and women's empowerment, share plant-based recipes and so much more. Before diving into this, here's a bit of the back story.
I was born and raised in a tiny little french town in rural Manitoba, Canada. My dad is a farmer and my mom is a teacher. It's funny because I feel as though I was raised in a very healthy home as my parents gardened and we spent a lot of time outdoors. In a way, in the past years I've been getting back to my roots. I'll always be a country girl at heart, even though I no longer live there and don't have any plans to return to country living.
I left home to attend university. I had my first baby at 20 years old and became a single mom. I worked really hard to finish university on time and become a teacher, which I did. It wasn't easy. Fast forward to marrying my now husband and having two more children. I was a teacher for 13 years and decided to resign when I became passionate of a newfound interest in health and wellness while on a maternity leave with my third baby. Hence, creating the @janellesilverhague account. Leaving my teaching position wasn't easy. I am an educator at heart, which is why you'll see me teaching live classes online almost every single week.
If you're interested in leading a clean, healthy, well balanced lifestyle, I hope to help you on that journey. I'm still learning and I'm far from perfect. I don't strive to be perfect in any way, if you follow me on Instagram you already know this! I have come a long way on this health journey and my goal is to share my knowledge around the benefits of essential oils and other plant-based products. As a mom to three children and one fur baby, I have found essential oils and plant-based living to be beneficial for our entire family and I hope to inspire you in a very raw, real and imperfect way.
I'm also passionate about Women’s Empowerment and have a Master’s in French Feminine Literature. After my second baby was born, I studied women's emancipation in developing countries with Simone de Beauvoir's existentialist philosophy. I researched for 2 years and it took me another 2 years to write a Master's Thesis. Anything in the realm of Women's Empowerment, I AM GAME.
I am a supporter of the LGTBQ2S+ community as well as all BIPOC peoples. I am working at becoming an ally to BIPOC peoples, constantly learning and listening. I am not perfect and I will make mistakes along the way. I am committed to doing my very best not only to educate myself, but my children and those who surround me.Yoga has been a big part of my life for an entire decade. I truly believe it keeps my mental health in balance. Once upon a time I hosted Yoga retreats and taught Yoga in Elementary school for Kindergarten to Grade 8.
